Again, please bear in mind that your servings should be reasonable. While men should get around 2,500 calories a day and women about 2,000, the advantage of eating healthy is that you don’t have to strictly count every calorie you take in.

So, let’s get started with some tips:

Check the label of the food or the beverage you’re about to buy. Avoid sugar, artificial sweeteners, butter substitutes, trans-fats, high fructose corn syrup, saturated fats and processed foods.

Become a fruit and vegetable lover. – Experts say that we should have at least five servings of fruit and vegetable a day. Do not replace fruits with sweetened juice however as it would only add additional pounds to your weight.

Cut down on starchy foods – Example of this kind of food are pasta, potatoes, rice, cereals or bread. Pick the wholegrain ones since they have more fiber. Fiber is known to make one feeling stuffed for a longer period.

Add more fish to your diet – If you want protein, minerals and vitamins in your food, fresh fish (not the battered fried kind!) is a great choice. Fish oil is also rich in omega-3 fats which is great for your heart. Some kind of fish to go for include fresh tuna, or salmon.

Minimize your sugar intake. Sugar will be stored in your body as fat, not to mention the other effects like tooth decay. If you can’t go for unsweetend coffee and desserts, avoid them completely. Do not use sugar substitutes as they contain harmful substances that your liver will have to filter out.

Reduce your salt intake – Too much salt could increase your blood pressure and would be a possible cause of heart disease.

Don’t skip breakfast – Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Studies have shown that when you eat breakfast, you will be in great control with your weight since it’s a very healthy part of life. A healthy breakfast could be a whole meal cereal with a fruit.

Drink lots of water – Having lots of water is a must when you are planning to do some weight loss routine. This is to avoid dehydration and will also cleanse your body. Stop drinking liquids with lots of sugar in it and replace them with water instead.
